The Dynamic Power of Meditation
The Rehabilitation Centre of New Delhi
in collaboration with the Addiction
Treatment Centre in New Delhi talks about the dynamic and activeness of
meditation. For most of us, the term “Meditation” invokes the image of an old,
bearded yogi sitting completely still, silent, in a cross-legged posture for
hours at a stretch. Although we'd admire his patience & will, we wouldn't
be as eager to do it ourselves. But the truth is that meditation is actually a
blanket word that covers a diverse range of practises — some of which can
actually be quite active, engaging & fun.
The Addiction Treatment
Centre in New Delhi states that the Dynamic meditation is one of the more popular
forms of meditation that was discovered by Madhya Guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
who also goes by the name of "OSHO''.
Apparantly Osho believed that Cathartic methods were necessary, since it was
difficult for modern people to just sit and enter meditation.
First
Stage: Chaotic Breathing
Breathing chaotically through the nose, let
breathing be intense, deep, fast, without rhythm, with no pattern – and
concentrating always on the exhalation. The body will take care of the
inhalation.
This is the stage from which the dynamic
meditation gets its name: "Mad Dance". It involves unleashing our
inner beast & giving ourselves the permission to let go of everything that
needs to be thrown out. Go totally mad. Scream, shout, cry, jump, kick, shake,
dance, sing, laugh; throw yourself around. Hold nothing back; keep your whole
body moving.
With arms raised high above your head, jump up
and down shouting the mantra, as deeply as possible. Each time you land, on the
flats of your feet, let the sound hammer deep into the centre.
Fourth
Stage: Tranquillity
Freeze wherever you are, in whatever position
you find yourself. Don’t arrange the body in any way. Don't move a muscle.
Celebrate with Music & dance to express
whatever is there. A little acting to get you started may help.
